FRANCIS BRUSO

Francis Bruso: Was born in St. Johns, Canada, July 28, 1832, and was a son of Francis and Saloma (Ducat) Bruso, both deceased. He was wedded November, 1864, to Sedalia Doush who was also born in 1839 in Canada; her parents, no longer living, were David and Mary (Schaffer) Doush. Six children have blessed this marriage, born in the order here given: Caroline, Alva, George, Laura, Carrie and Henry. When the late Civil Conflict began our subject was engaged in farming; he was enrolled Aug. 15, 1861, at Rossville, Ind., as a private in Co. C., 12 Ill. V. I., 2d Brig., 2d Div., 16th A.C. Feb. 13, 1862, at Ft. Doneldson he received a gunshot wound in thigh; he was again wounded at Corinth in right thigh, in consequence of which he was kept in hospital at Paducah seven weeks. October, 1863, he was captured in Corinth, and was held on field two days; his active hostilities were as follows: Belmont, Ft. Henry, Ft Donelson, Shiloh, Siege of Corinth, Iuka, Missionary Ridge, Resaca, Buzzard Roost, Big Shanty, Dalton, Dallas and several others. His term of service having expired he was honorably discharged Sept. 7, 1864, at East Point, Ga. He had two brothers in the service, Antione in Co. C, 12th Ill. V.I., lost a finger at the Siege of Corinth and Octave in 19th N.Y. V.I. Comrade Bruso is a member of McPherson Post, 7, he has a pension, and his address is Darlington, Ind., near which place he is at present engaged in farming. - thanks muches to my buddy, Jeff Scism
